Early life, Family, and Relationship
Ian Harding was born on September 16, 1986, to an American family in Heidelberg, Germany. His father, Stephen Harding, is a military affairs writer and novelist who has had two New York Times bestsellers, ‘The Last Battle’ and ‘Last to Die.’ Mary Harding, his mother, worked as a cardiology nurse at Walter Reed. Sarah is his older sister.
Ian’s family relocated to Virginia when he was a child, and he began attending Georgetown Preparatory School in North Bethesda, Maryland. He became interested in acting and joined his school’s drama club, and he was chosen by his class to deliver the graduating speech. Ian Harding enjoyed performing and performed on stage throughout high school. He auditioned for numerous acting conservatories as a student in high school. However, he was hesitant to pursue it as a job and commit to it for the rest of his life. Later, he enrolled in Carnegie Mellon University’s Acting/Music Theatre Department.
To help his mother, who has had lupus for almost 20 years, he collaborated with the Lupus Foundation of America to raise cash and awareness for lupus research and education. In 2010, he began dating Sophie Hart. The pair married in October of this year. The pair will have their first child together in September 2022.
When it comes to music, he like Taylor Swift. He adopted two Labradoodles from a shelter, Mochi and Bailey. In an interview, he said that if he hadn’t become an actor, he would have studied psychology.

Ian Harding’s first major break came in 2009 when he was cast in the romantic comedy-drama ‘Adventureland,’ written and directed by Greg Mottola. In the same year, he portrayed Ryan in the film ‘Deadtime Stories 2.’
In 2010, Ian began playing Ezra Fitz, an English teacher turned popular novelist, on ABC Family Television’s ‘Pretty Little Liars,’ which lasted seven seasons. So far, he has received eight Teen Choice Awards for his portrayal of Ezra Fitz. He opted to create this book because he felt “creatively dissatisfied” and wanted to try his hand at something new. So he chose to write about his boyhood interest in birdwatching.
