Michael Che Campbell is an American stand-up comedian, actor, and writer who is otherwise known as Michael Che. He is best known for his works on Saturday Night Live in which he’s a co-anchor on Weekend Update & also co-head writer and worked with Colin Jost. He has also Co-hosted the 70th Primetime Emmy Awards in 2018. Michael was a correspondent for The Daily Show with Jon Stewart for a short period and worked as a writer for Saturday Night Live previously. He became a co-anchor in the Weekend Update for the 40th season of Saturday Night Live alongside Colin Jost, instead of Cecily Strong.

Early life, Family, and Relationship

Michael Che was born on 19th May 1983 in Manhattan, New York City, New York. He was the youngest one in their family. His father Nathaniel Campbell named him after the revolutionary leader Che Guevara.

He was raised on the Lower East Side of Manhattan. He graduated from the Fiorllo H. LaGuardia High School of Music & Art and Performing Arts. He worked in customer service for a Toyota car dealership for two whole years and he also created acrylic portraits of celebrities. Portraits on T-shirts, and sold them in SoHo. Once when Tommy Hilfiger had a notice on his work he offered him a freelance job though he didn’t turn in any design.

Micheal Che had it all started with a  performance of stand-up comedy in the year 2009. He put in his efforts and regularly worked in several sets every night. Che appeared on the Late Show with David Letterman in the year 2012 and in Variety called Che one of 10 Comics to Watch in 2013.

He got named as one of The 50 Funniest People by Rolling Stone. He joined Saturday Night Live as a guest writer at first then a staff writer in 2013. On the 28th of April 2014, there was an announcement that he would join The Daily Show in June as a correspondent.

He did it on screen on June 4th as a  Daily Show correspondent. Though he was on it for only nine segments in his real brief time he was appreciated by the TV Guide for his work. His signature piece was Race/Off: Live From Somewhere which was a satirical commentary on 2014’s Ferguson protests.
