She is the third generation descendant of historical black Quakertown neighborhood residents of Denton. She still has great memories of her great grandfather, Dollar Bill Hill and her great grandmother Othella Hill and also her grandma Norvell Williams and her sister Jackie Jack on the social media.

Success and career

Debbie Denmon had her career started into the TV world via a news channel in the year 1992. She later had contacts that made through the UNT chapter of the National Association of Black Journalists and it was a very important change in her life. They helped her in securing her very first job after she had her graduation at KXAS-Tv.

Kent Harrell who was a station photographer, pushed her to apply for a reporter position at KRDO-TV in Colorado Springs, Colo. She secured what she got the job and worked there for 18 months. She was as a weekend anchor and a reporter in the KJRH-TV in Tulsa in the year of 1995. When she was there, she was the first reporter to be at the Oklahoma City Bombing site.

She was assigned to cover the story in live for a whole week of wall-to wall coverage. She also was covering the death penalty trial of OKC Bomber, Timothy McVeigh and delivered the verdict live as a Field Anchor.

After the contract was over with KJRH in the year of 1998 she moved to Indianapolis’s bigger television market and at the WTHR – TV she reported on the legendary Indiana University Basketball Coach Bobby Knight’s firing. Debbie was also reporting the NBC affiliates. She won a national award for her feature on Sam Perkins of Pacers center.
