Early Life

Jess Moskaluke was the first Canadian female country artist to attain CRIA Platinum single status with the smash ‘Cheap Wine and Cigarettes,’ and she has since gone on to receive CRIA Gold certifications for ‘Take Me Home,’ ‘Kiss Me Quiet,’ and a nomination for her participation on Paul Brandt’s ‘I’m An Open Road.’ She was also the first Canadian female country singer since 2008 to have a song in the Top 3 with ‘Drive Me Away,’ and she has SIX other Top 10 singles, including her first ever NUMBER ONE ‘Country Girls.’

Jess is the 2017 JUNO Award winner for ‘Country Album of the Year,’ the 2018 CCMA Award winner for ‘Album of the Year,’ a three-time consecutive CCMA ‘Female Artist of the Year’ Award winner – the first Saskatchewan resident to achieve this title in the awards’ history, a 2017 SOCAN Award winner, and recently took home the 2020 WCM Award for ‘Country Artist of the Year.’

Career

Moskaluke won the Next Big Thing contest, sponsored by Big Dog 92.7 and SaskMusic, in June 2011. She earned the New Artist Showcase Award at the Canadian Country Music Association Awards in September 2011. She was selected to represent Canada at the 2012 CMA Music Festival’s Global Artist Party.

“Catch Me If You Can,” Moskaluke’s first song, was released on June 4th, 2012. The music video for the song was often shown on CMT. It was followed by an EP, similarly titled Catch Me If You Can, published by MDM Recordings and distributed by EMI Music Canada on September 4, 2012.

The Leader-Jeff Post’s DeDekker scored the EP four out of five stars, noting, “by utilising the full breadth of her voice and also including softness and fragility, Moskaluke is able to cover the whole gamut of content.” Top Country’s Casadie Pederson scored the EP four stars out of five, calling Moskaluke “one of the brightest young talents we’ve seen in a long time.”

In 2013, the EP’s second song, “Hit N Run,” charted in the top 40 on the Billboard Canada Country chart. At the 2013 Saskatchewan Country Music Association Awards, Moskaluke was voted Female Vocalist of the Year.

In October 2013, Moskaluke released “Good Lovin’,” the first single off her first studio album. It was her first song to rank in the top 20 of Billboard Canada Country. On April 15, 2014, the album Light Up the Night was published. In 2014, the album’s singles “Cheap Wine and Cigarettes” and “Used” were also released.

She released her second studio album The Demos in February 2021, which included her first #1 hit “Country Girls,” as well as the tracks “Halfway Home,” “Mapdot,” “Leave Each Other Alone,” and “Nothin’ I Don’t Love About You.”
