Career, Struggle, Turning Point, and Success

In the indie film Deep Toad from 2003, Murray made her acting debut as Natashia. Later, she was cast in Legacy, also known as Pretty Little Devils, and Fifty Pills as Jayne. Her first big part was as a mentally ill teenager in the independent horror film The Fun Park from 2007. Murray played Gwen Adams in the love story American High School in 2009.

In subsequent roles, she portrayed Heather in the parody comedy An American Carol, Abby Graves in the cult classic The Graves, and Lex Mitchell in Forget Me Not.

On the Disney Channel original series Sonny with a Chance, Murray played Portlyn in a recurring role. After the fourth episode, she was given a series regular part but turned it down since she had many film offers on the table. She was cast as Penelope, the daughter of Lara Flynn Boyle, in the comedy Cougar Hunting, and as Brandi Cox, the female lead in her first studio movie, Wild Things: Foursome.

Murray was given the main female role in her second studio picture, Never Back Down 2: The Beatdown, portraying Eve, after finishing that movie in 2010. She first met Dean Geyer, her long-term lover, on the set of this movie.

Liara T’Soni, a character in the Mass Effect video game series, was modeled after Murray’s face and figure. She most recently made an appearance on the first episode of Fear Factor’s 2011 relaunch (where she came in second place and lost the first-place title because her partner fell).

Murray was cast in the 2012 horror thriller Cabin Fever: Patient Zero and appeared in the action movie Bad Ass with Danny Trejo and Ron Perlman. She co-starred with Tom Sizemore in the movie Visible Scars, which she also produced. She was cast as Olivia in the popular MTV series Awkward.

Murray was cast in a number of independent films in 2013, including My Favorite Five, Windsor Drive, and Mantervention. She starred in The Squeeze, a golf-themed drama, with Jeremy Sumpter, Christopher McDonald, and Michael Nouri towards the end of 2013. In the 2014 movie Dark Ascension, Murray was cast as Danni, one of the protagonists (originally titled Welcome to Purgatory).

On CBS’s Code Black, Murray was cast in the recurring character of Dr. Heather Pinkney in 2015. For the second season of the program, she was upgraded to series regular in the summer of 2016.
