Sabongui was born on January 9, 1975, in Montreal, Quebec, Canada. His parents are Wadid Sabongui and Leila Rizkalla. He has four siblings – 3 older brothers (Amir Georges Sabongui, Rami Joseph Sabongui, and Camille Anthony Sabongui) and a younger sister Marie-Marguerite Sabingui.

He graduated with a BFA in drama for human development at Concordia University. In 2005, he earned a degree in Master of Fine Arts in acting from the University of California, Irvine.
