Amandla Stenberg is an American actress and singer who is 24 years of age as of January 2023. She was born on 23rd October 1998 in Los Angeles, California, USA.

She was also on Time’s list of the Most Influential Teens in the years 2015 and 2016. Amandla has also received many awards like an NAACP Image Award and a Teen Choice Award. She has been nominated for four Critics’ Choice Awards and four Black Reel Awards.

Amandla made her first acting debut in the film Colombiana in the year 2011 and has her breakthrough in the film The Hunger Games in the year of 2012 as Rue and won the Teen Choice Award for Best Chemistry.

She also had a recurring part in the series, Sleepy Hollow, from the year 2013 to 2014 in the role of Macey Irving.  She voiced Bia in the film Rio 2 in the year 2014. Amandla starred as Halle Foster in Mr. Robinson in the year 2015 which is a sitcom.

She acted in Everything, Everything in the year 2017 as Maddy Whittier. In the year 2018, she acted in The Hate U Give in which she won the NAACP Image Award for Outstanding Actress in a Motion Picture.

She has got herself a nomination for the Critics’ Choice Award for Best Young Actor/Actress for her outstanding performance.   She has also starred in The Darkest Minds in the year 2018 as Ruby, in Where Hands Touch in the year 2018 as Leyna, as Julie in the Netflix miniseries The Eddy in the year 2020, and Alana Beck in Dear Evan Hansen in the year 2021 and in THe Acolyte.

Amandla Stenberg is the daughter of Tom Stenberg  & Karen Brailsford who is an African-American spiritual counselor and writer whereas her father Tom Stenberg, is Danish.

Her paternal grandmother had Greenlandic Inuit ancestry. She has two older half-sisters from her father’s side. Her first name has the meaning of power or strength in accordance with the South African languages of IsiXhosa and Zulu.

When she was a four-year-old she started making her catalog modeling shoots for Disney. She has appeared in commercials for her clients like Boeing.
