Boris Kodjoe is an Austrian-born American actor, producer, and former model who is well-known for his roles such as Kelby in the year of 2002 in the movie Brown Sugar, in the Showtime drama series Soul Food as Damon Carter the sports-courier agent, a recurring character on FOX’s The Last Man on Earth and Dr Will Campbell on CBS’s Code Black.

He also co-stars in the  Grey’s Anatomy spin-off, Station 19 as Robert Sullivan and BET’s Real Husbands of Hollywood.

Boris Kodjoe’s birth name is Boris Frederic Cecil Tay-Natey Ofuatey-Kodjoe. He was born on 8th March 1973 and he was born in Vienna, Austria. He is well-known for his role in Love & Basketball in the year of 2000as Jason and the Soul Food in 2000 the same year as that of the previous which is  Showtime drama series as the sports-courier agent Damon Carter.

His father Eric Kodjoe is a Ghanaian physician who is of the Nzema people whereas his mother is Ursula, a German psychologist of partially Jewish descent. Boris was named after the Russian poet and writer Boris Pasternak. His great-grandmother was Jewish who died in the Holocaust and his maternal grandmother survived as she was hiding.

His parents got divorced when he was a six year old. He is fluent in German, English, and French, and speaks some Spanish. He also had a brother and two sisters.

Success and career

Boris Kodjoe went to the Virginia Commonwealth University with his Tennis scholarship. He graduated from there with a bachelor’s degree with a major in Marketing in the year of 1996. He was a four-year letterman on the Rams’ men’s tennis team and he is ninth in school history with seventy-five career singles wins. He tied for the third double victory with sixty six. He was paired with Jonas ELmbad on the thirty seven of them and also was third all the time.

His brother Patrick Kodjjoe also played for the VCU’s basketball team. Due to a back injury, an unfortunate end happened in Boris’ tennis aspirations. Though he soon after signed as a model and entered acting. In the year, 1995 he was featured in the TLC’s music video for Red Light Special. He never gave up and moved on up and up and stood his ground and more.
