Cecily Legler Strong is an American actress and comedienne better known as Cecily Strong a cast member of Saturday Night Live from 2012 on. As she was in her improv at The Second City in Chicago she got hired to be in SNL and she was with her graduation from the CalArts when she moved to Chicago.

Served as a co-anchor in her second year for the Weekend Update segment and packed herself to the cast leaving no anchor duties the next year. She has other roles which include voicing The Awesomes between the years of 2013 till 2015 and also in other movies like The Meddler, The Female Brain & Ghostbusters.

With things going on in the year 2015 has hosted the White House Correspondents’ Dinner 2015. Moving up she has starred in and also has produced the Apple TV+ series Schmigadoon! a musical comedy in the year 2021. She has her first book which is a memoir having the name, This Will All Be Over Soon in the year 2021. Her work in SNL took her to the heights of  Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series at the 72nd and 73rd Primetime Emmy Awards as a nominee.

Early life, Family, and Relationship

Cecily Strong was born on February 8, 1984 in Springfield, Illinois, USA. Though she was raised in Chicago’s inner-ring suburb which is Oak Park, Illinois. Cecily’s father Bill Strong was an Associated Press bureau chief and as of now, he runs his own public relations firm.

Her mother Penelope Strong is a nurse practitioner. Her parents got divorced. She loved SNL since she was a child and reenacted sketches with her friend and even watched old SNL commercials on VHS.

Education

She studied at Oak Park and River Forest High School, then went to a private Catholic school. For her senior year, she transferred to the Chicago Academy for the Arts and graduated in 2002.

She later attended the California Institute of the Arts, where she earned a BFA in Theatre in 2006. After finishing college, she returned to Chicago to study at the Second City Conservatory and iO Chicago.

In March 2024 Cecily got engaged to her longtime partner John MacGregor. Later that year, in November, she delighted her fans by announcing on Instagram that she was expecting. Today, the happy couple is blessed with a beautiful baby girl their little angel.

Cecily Strong’s Success and career

Cecily Strong started performing at The Second City and iO Chicago on a regular basis. She was on a cruise ship for four months along with other Second City members giving some performances. She debuted on Saturday Night Live as a featured player on 15th Sep 2012.

In the later season, he became a repertory player and along with that, she was co-anchoring the recurring Weekend Update segment with Seth Meyers, from the season 39 premiere. She also co-anchored with Colin Jost after that of the previous and was then off it with  Michael Che, a writer.
