Williams started his acting career in 2006 by appearing in the television series Law & Order, in which he played the role of Kwame. He also appeared in Beyond the Break as Eric Medina. His debut movie was in 2008 with The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants 2, in which he played the role of Leo.

He has appeared in a short film titled Dirty Dancing 3: Capoeira Nights. Williams has also appeared in other movies like The Cabin in the Woods, The Butler, Snake, and Mongoose, They Die by Dawn, Money, Band-Aid, Selah and the Spades, Jacob’s Ladder, Random Acts of Violence, and Secret Headquarters.

Williams has two younger brothers. In 1998, Williams graduated from Moses Brown School in Providence, Rhode Island. He graduated from Temple University with a double major in African American Studies and Film and Media Arts. Before becoming an actor, he taught English, American, and African studies in the Philadelphia public school system for 6 years.

In 2012, Williams married Aryn Drake-Lee, a real estate broker. The couple together has two kids – Maceo Williams, and Sadie Williams. The couple split and filed for divorce in 2017.
