Early Life

Sarah Gray Rafferty was born on December 6, 1972, in Rafferty grew up in Greenwich, Connecticut, as the youngest of four girls in the Riverside area. She attributes her love of the arts to her mother, Mary Lee Rafferty, who is the Chairwoman of the English Department at Convent of the Sacred Heart, and her father, Michael Griffin Rafferty Jr., who has two successful careers in finance and oil painting. Maura, Ann, and Constance are her sisters.

Rafferty graduated from Phillips Academy in Andover, Massachusetts, in 1989. She majored in English and Theatre at Hamilton College, studied theatre abroad in the United Kingdom and at the University of Oxford during her junior year, and went on to study at the Yale School of Drama, earning a Master of Fine Arts after graduating magna cum laude in 1993.

Career

Sarah Rafferty made her television debut in ‘Trinity,’ a 1998 film. She later appeared in episodes of ‘Law & Order’ and ‘Walker, Texas Ranger.’ She went on to star in the film ‘Speakeasy’ in 2003. The actress appeared in the dramas ‘Without a Trace,’ ‘Six Feet Under,’ ‘The Practice,’ ‘Tremors,’ and ‘Good Morning, Miami’ the same year.
