Taye Diggs’s birth name is Scott Leo Berry. He was born on 2nd January 1971 and was born in Newark, New Jersey, USA. He grew up in Rochester, Newyork. Taye was born to Marcia Berry who was a teacher and an actress and his father Andre Young was a visual artist. When he was a child, his mother was married to Jeffries Diggs, whose surname is his current surname.
He got his BFA degree from Syracuse University with musical theater as his major. He made his showbiz debut in the Carousel’s ensemble cast which won the Tony Award five times. Taye is the oldest of the five brothers of whom two are musicians and one sister who is a dancer whereas the other is going to college studying to become a veterinarian.

Taye Diggs in the year 1996, was in Rent in which he was as the landlord Benny in which his future wife, Idina Menzel also starred. The movie by Jonathan Larson has won the Tony Award- and Pulitzer Prize. Later of which he was in Andrew Lippa’s off-Broadway production of The Wild Party at Manhattan Theatre Club as Mr. Black with Menzel’s character as Kate.
He also acted in The Bandleader in the year 2002 which is a movie version of the long-running Broadway revival of Chicago and was as Billy Flynn on Broadway. Taye has also temporarily been in the Wicked as the love interest Fiyero of Menzel’s Elphaba character for Norbert Leo Butz.

In the year of 1998, he started his movie debut in How Stella Got Her Groove Back which brought him much praise and exposure, and the next year he played in Doug Liman’s Go as a tantric sex god and in The Wood with Omar Epps as AWOL groom.
