Career

Arts grew up in Weyburn, Saskatchewan, where she started taking piano and singing classes and developed a love in songwriting throughout her adolescence. By 2009, she had begun releasing videos of her cover versions of famous songs, including one of Taylor Swift’s “Fifteen,” which drew the notice of a Nashville, Tennessee talent management.

Arts moved to Nashville for a little while to explore this chance, but then returned to Canada to complete high school. She moved to Nashville in 2015 to sign a publishing deal with Noble Vision Music Group and recorded “Breathe,” a charity song to benefit Cystic Fibrosis research.

For her rising success, she received the Saskatchewan Country Music Association’s Emerging Artists Award and was nominated for the Canadian Country Music Association’s Discovery Artist programme in 2016. That same year, she released her self-titled debut extended play via the independent label imprint 19th & Grand Records. “What He’s Into” was released to Canadian country radio as her official debut single in January 2017 and peaked at 47 on the Canada Country airplay chart.

Following the success of that single, Arts’ debut studio album, Rebel Child, was released on October 27, 2017, preceded by the single “Cold Feet.” The album peaked at number 45 on the Billboard Top Country Albums sales component chart.

Arts appeared on the 22nd season of the popular American reality television series The Bachelor in 2018, performing an original ballad titled “Moment of Weakness,” and again in 2020, performing “Somebody Like That.” The show’s exposure resulted in increased interest in Arts’ music and a record deal with the indie label Reviver Records, which she signed in March 2018. That year, a deluxe edition of Rebel Child was released, featuring new songs such as “Moment of Weakness.” “I Hate This,” her first release for Reviver, was released in the summer of 2018 and charted on the Hot Country Songs in the United States.

“Mad Crazy Love,” a Canadian-exclusive single, became Arts’ second single to reach the Canadian country airplay charts. Two more singles, “Call You Names” and “Somebody Like That,” were released in 2019 to promote her second studio album, Love, Heartbreak, & Everything in Between, which was released on January 10, 2020.
