Zendaya is a famous American actress and singer. She was born on September 1, 1996 in  Oakland, California, USA. Her full name is Zendaya Maree Stoermer Coleman.

She has received a lot of awards including, a Primetime Emmy Award. Zendaya started her career as a child model and a backup dancer and she got her first breakthrough in her role as Rocky Blue in Shake It Up, the Disney Channel sitcom which was on between the years 2010–2013.

In the year of 2013 she was also a contestant in the 16th season of Dancing with the Stars which is a dance competition series. She has also produced and acted (starred) in Undercover, a sitcom between 2015–2018 as the titular spy, K.C. Cooper.

She was also in the HBO drama series Euphoria as a struggling, drug addict teenager from the year 2019 till the present. This very series made her the youngest recipient of the Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series.

She also had film roles which include, The Greatest Showman in the year of 2017 which is a musical drama, and in the Spider-Man: Homecoming a  superhero film in the year of 2017 and its sequels too. She has also acted in Malcolm & Marie a romantic drama in the year 2021 and the Dune a science fiction epic in the year 2021.

Zendaya’s father and mother are teachers. Her father is an African-American, with a history of roots in Arkansas whereas her mother is of German and Scottish ancestry.

Her name is derived from the Shona name Tendai which means to give thanks and she has five older siblings. As for her schooling, she was in the Fruitvale Elementary School where her mother was a teacher for twenty years. When she was six years old her friends from school and herself performed a play for Black History Month.

Zendaya Success and Career

Zendaya started her career as a fashion model for Macy’s, Mervyns, and Old Navy. She has also done ad films like iCarly toys ad film in which she was featured. She was a backup dancer in a Sears commercial featuring the Disney star, Selena Gomez.
