Acting Career

In 2006, Doc landed his first breakthrough in the TBS television series Tyler Perry’s House of Payne as Malik Payne. His character in the series is a witty preteen whose actions often got him in unintentional trouble. Through the series, he grows into a young adult. By the end of the ninth season, he is expecting his first child with his live-in girlfriend.

In 2009, he was cast in the Disney Channel’s sitcom The Suite Life on Deck, in which he played the role of Marcus Little/ Lil’ Little, a former Grammy Award winner whose career ended after his record label let him go.

He last appeared on the show on August 20, 2010. Shaw’s next big break was in the series Pair of Kings, in the role of King Boomer. He was one of the two protagonists of the series. He was the only one of the triplets to have inherited the African-American mother’s skin color.

Shaw also appeared in other television series like The King of Queens, Emily Owens, M.D., See Dad Run, and The Paynes. He has also appeared in films like Open Season 2, Nobody Loves Me, Thunderstruck, Dawn of the Planet of the Apes, and An American Werewolf in London. Shaw has also appeared in the music video Top Of The World in September 2010. The theme song was featured on Radio Disney.

Shaw was born on April 24, 1992, in Atlanta, Georgia, United States. His grandparents gave him the nickname ‘Doc’. Shaw’s father got him into modeling and quickly he moved through the industry. In 1994, his father passed away in a car accident. To continue his career, he asked his mother to find him an agent. He started appearing in many commercials at the age of 6.
