Yasiin Bey is an American rapper, singer, songwriter, and actor who started his hip hop career in 1994 and with his siblings in the short-lived rap group Urban Thermo Dynamics, after which they appeared on the albums by De La Soul and Da Bush Babees. He was considered one of hip-hop’s most introspective and insightful artists and he has molded a career that transcends music genres and artists mediums.
He took his cue from the Afrocentric stylings of the Native Tongues crew, which are Jungle Brothers, De La Soul, Andres Titus, and A Tribe Called Quest. Yasiin has emerged as one of the more famous voices of new school hip-hop with the likes of Common, Outkast, Goodie Mob, and The Roots, which are few to be said.

Early life, Family, and Relationship
Yasiin Bey better known as Mos Def also has another name. His birth name Dante Terrell Smith was born on 11th December 1973 and was born in Brooklyn, New York City, New York, USA. He was the son of Sheron Smith and Abdulrahman Smith. He was the eldest of twelve children and step-children and grew up with his mother in Brooklyn whereas his father lived in New Jersey.
His father was a former member of the Nation of Islam and later of which he followed Imam Warith Deen Mohammed and again did something by merging into the mainstream of Sunni Islam from the Nation of Islam. Def was involved or exposed to Isalm till he was thirteen and his close friends are his fellow Muslim hip-hop artists like Q-Tip & Ali Shaheed Muhammad.

Success and career
He started his music career in the year of 1994 and formed the group UTD with his younger brother DCQ and his high school friend Ces. In 2004 they released the album Manifest Destiny and their first and only release to date. This album featured the altogether compilation of the prior one unreleased and has been re-released as the track that was recorded at the time of the original UTD run.
In the year of 1996, he emerged as a solo artist and worked with De La Soul and Da Bush Babees before he had his own first single released in the name called, Universal Magnetic in the year of 1997.
